Description
In this course, you will :
- Begin the step-by-step process of your final project, beginning with spatial design. Examine a variety of examples to help you decide on your space's creative story.
- Understand how developing a narrative for your space can help you make decisions and design a space that is appropriate for how you want to live.
- Catrina and Hugh then walk you through the course's tools, from physical materials to software, and how to use them.
- Using an Office S&M project as a model, learn how to write a brief for a design project.
- See how to turn a written brief into a visual map, or'spatial brief,' by sketching out your strategy.
- Learn more about spatial narratives and how moving through and living in a space can affect the occupant. Start designing the structural specifics, such as floor plan proposals, with your spatial narrative in mind, using the written and spatial brief from earlier in the course. Find solutions to any issues that arise in the spatial brief, and sketch out a more detailed plan to imagine how the future space will feel.
- Catrina and Hugh guide you through every step of the design process, from colour schemes and materials to accent features, furniture, and lighting.
- Learn how to manage the construction process in detail. Get a breakdown of the key areas involved in making your plan a reality. Catrina and Hugh advise on cost plans, ordering, contracting and working with builders, supervising construction, and timeline planning. To bring your work together and create your final deck - the pack of information to send to builders - use a design programme.
