UBCx: STEM & Sustainability

STEM & Sustainability is a hands-on, self-paced, course designed to provide teachers the knowledge and resources to incorporate sustainability topics into their existing STEM curriculum. Each module will feature engaging activities on a limited budget so as to be accessible for every classroom. Each activity uses an inquiry lens to allow students to focus on aspects of sustainability that are important to them and to build student agency and ownership around these topics.

In this course, you will learn:

Develop a better knowledge of what sustainability is.
Be able to develop and identify sustainable solutions to real-world situations.
Make connections between STEM and sustainability.
Create linkages between sustainability and other curricular areas, such as First Peoples' Principles of Learning and British Columbia's Core Competencies.
Develop mechanisms for evaluating sustainability actions.
Be able to introduce sustainable practices into the classroom without drastically altering your current teaching approaches.
