Description
This course will teach you how to assess the safety of a collaborative robot workcell and prevent injury or harm. It disseminates industry-accepted safety standards, technical report recommendations, and best practises from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the Robotic Industries Association (RIA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Before delving into risk assessments, causes of robot accidents, and collaborative applications, students are introduced to the similarities and differences between traditional robots, cobots, and conventional machinery. The material also includes key design techniques for reducing collision forces as well as a safety testing methodology.
