Description
What factors contribute to the success of an arts and cultural organisation? This course, led by DeVos Institute Chairman Michael M. Kaiser and President Brett Egan, will introduce you to the Cycle, a management theory that supports thriving arts and cultural organisations. The DeVos Institute developed the Cycle as a simple but powerful tool to assist managers in their efforts to respond to an increasingly complex environment and propel their institutions to excellence, based on our work with managers from over 80 countries around the world.
The Cycle explains how great art and strong marketing can create a family of supporters who help the organisation generate the revenue needed to support even more great art the following year. The Cycle has been used in performing and presenting organisations, museums, arts schools, and other nonprofit endeavours such as service organisations, historical societies, public libraries, university programmes, advocacy organisations, botanical gardens, and zoos, according to the Institute.
