Description
In this course, you will learn:
- Introduction to the course and general chemistry. Learn about chemistry, its relevance, and how it's used in everyday life. Introduce key vocabulary, the scientific method, and fundamental safety precautions for chemistry experiments.
- Dive into the fundamental units of chemistry: atoms, molecules, and ions. Explain the Periodic Table, as well as atomic structure (protons, neutrons, and electrons). Explain how atoms form molecules and ions, and introduce the concept of isotopes.
- Introduce the concept of chemical reactions and the role of energy in these processes. Teach students how to balance and comprehend chemical equations. Discuss the law of conservation of mass.
- Discuss the three phases of matter and their qualities. Explain phase transitions and how temperature and pressure affect these phases. Discuss the gas laws and their real-world applications.
- Introduce the concepts of acid, base, and pH. Discuss frequent instances from everyday life and their value. Introduce the pH scale and demonstrate how to measure pH.
- Finally, examine the applications of these notions in domains such as biology, medicine, and environmental science.
